The painting can be pinpointed to the Genovese School, a known exponent of this School was Domenico Piola. The artist was very much influenced by the work of Rubens, after his stay in Genoa. This painting appears to follow the model of the Rubens´ painting on the same theme which he painted for the Church of Jesus, Saint Ambrose and Saint Andrew in Genoa.
