Two Impressions of Pair of Pintails, 1930; trial proof A and a published state, edition of 150 (Paff, 294). Both signed "FrankWBenson." in pencil l.l., proof with stamp from the Boston Public Library Hiram Campbell Merrill Bequest (Lugt, 4745) l.r. Drypoints, the proof on laid paper, the editioned print on Shogun or similar, plate size 8 x 9 7/8 in. (20.3 x 25.0 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Some deckled edges, pencil annotations l.l., minor handling creases to some margins, losses to both left corners of the proof, soiling and small area of tape residue to margins of proof.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. There were three proofs of this plate prior to the published state. Proof A shows the ducks largely completed, but only hints at the reeds and horizon to come.

The proof sheet measures 9 3/8 x 14 1/8 in. and has all edges deckled. The tape reside is a small area of brown paper tape or similar near the upper right corner of the sheet. The losses to the corner are well outside of the plate mark. The publish state sheet measures10 7/8 x 12 7/8 in. and has deckled left and lower edges.
