A Good Gilt Bronze and Patinated Bronze Rectangular Inkstand, Regency, retailed by the Thomas Weeks

Museum, London, modelled with a seated greyhound, its collar inscribed "Fidele", chained to a bronze tree stump supporting a classical urn, the circular inkwell with leaf paterae lid and guilloche band, on white marble octagonal base with gilt bead mouldings, 5.75ins x 3.25ins x 5.5ins high, inscribed "Weeks R. Museum Tichborne Street"
Note: Thomas Weeks (1743-1834) established his celebrated Museum of Mechanical Curiosities at 3 & 4 Tichborne Street, London, in 1797. The museum became a place of amusement for sophisticated Londoners, not only was it a private house but also a shop, where Weeks displayed a variety of mechanical toys, elaborate temples and contrivances ranging from self playing organs to mechanical spiders.
