A Continental, probably Italian, patinated bronze model of the Borghese gladiator, after the Antique, late 18th/early 19th century, portrayed heroically nude, heroically nude, stretching forwards with his shield arm extended, the right hand drawn back in preparation for a sword thrust, on a rectangular plinth, 21cm high overall, the base 19.5 x 9.5cm
Condition Report:
The bronze has a variegated shiny patina, which has a light and almost 'oily' iridescence in places. The extremities and recesses such as the face and shield are a little darker and more matte. The bronze is a little scratched and more visibly so to the rear leg. The sword has a tiny hairline crack where it meets the hand, possibly a repair
