Carved and lacquered in brown with reddish hues, depicting the Gigaku mask of Chidō. A central bridge forms the himotoshi on the reverse, where also the signature TETSURO 鉄琅 and kakihan is located.
HEIGHT 4.8 cm
Condition: Minor wear and flaking to the lacquer, most of it done on purpose to simulate wear. Good condition.
Provenance: Peter E. Muller Mask Collection. Ichikawa Tetsuro was a pupil of Kano Tessai.
