Near-Miniature Greek Blackware Trefoil Oinochoe
**Originally Listed At $250**
Magna Graecia, South Italic colonies, Apulian or Campanian, ca. 4th century BCE. A fine near-miniature wheel-thrown oinochoe (pouring vessel) with a ringed footed base, a piriform body, a rounded shoulder, a narrow neck with a trefoil pouring spout, and an applied strap handle joining rim to shoulder. The majority of the body's exterior and the interior of the rim are colored with a lustrous jet-black glaze, though the interior of the body as well as the underside of the foot still exhibit the pale-orange buffware color. A thin band of dark red pigment wraps around the shoulder. Scattered areas of faint silvery iridescence provide a nice complementary color to the glazed areas.
