1850 Model Staff and Field Officer's Sword with ID tag of Col. Rishworth Rich of 52 Salem Street, Portland, Commander of the 9th Maine Volunteers, mustered in at Augusta, Maine on Sept 22, 1861, engaged at Port Royal, Hilton Head, Fernandina, Florida, Fort Wagner, Drewry's Bluff, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, The Crater and more. A custom order sword with bronze Eagle hilt, faux shagreen grip, bronze scabbard (with possible bullet strike) and most notably, a fine etched blade by W. Walscheid of Solingen, Germany. 40" long overall. Very good condition.
