Rare Greek Terracotta Bull Rider, ex-Royal Athena
**Originally Listed At $1200**
Greek sphere of influence, Hellenistic period, possibly from Alexandria, ca. late 4th to 2nd century CE. A mold-made ceramic figure of a youth riding a rearing bull. Traces of polychrome pigment remain on the surface. Since the Late Geometric period, Greek artisans had produced animal and rider terracottas, of which this is a well modeled example. The figure may have been intended to be a votive offering or a child's toy. Size: 5.5" W x 6.95" H (14 cm x 17.7 cm)
