A LOUIS XVI WHITE MARBLE AND GILT BRONZE CHINOISERIE MANTEL CLOCK, LATE 18TH CENTURY

the enameled dial with a cartouche signed JACs. BREANT A PARIS and apparently signed Coteau underneath a bead and reel gilt bronze border along lower edge; with annular date and open centre to reveal a fully skeletonised movement with pinwheel escapement, gridiron pendulum and outside count-wheel striking on a bell
height 23 ¼ in.; width 13 in.

Condition Report:
Movement lacking the seconds hand, with a later protective perspex front and brass drum behind. Crest figure possibly originally holding a parasol, and some bells lacking along back edge of fish-scale architrave. White marble base with scattered minor chips and surface dirt. Gilding a nice colour with slight rubbing and oxidation in places. One gilt bronze rosette from back of base detached but present.
