Bronze crucifix with base in carved carrara marble (1) - Bronze, Marble - First half 18th century
Small crucified Christ in cast bronze on processional cross with three arrows on the ends. INRI inscription at the top. A skull under Christ’s feet. Sculpture of Christ in the centre with his long open arms, his face bowed down with long hair and a suffering look. Hollow torso ending with a diagonal drape. The legs are open and half-kneeling, and they join in the crossed feet. Everything is placed in a carved Carrara marble base, particularly beautiful, in roman Baroque style and period. Full-relief angel’s head carved in the centre with open wings, as if it was flying. On the back and in the sides, that are carved like a connection, there are acanthus leaves of excellent workmanship.
