Pair of Civil War related portrait plaques including; 1.) Profile bust portrait in brass/bronze of John Grubb Parke (1827-1900). Portrait measures 15" x 9" and is mounted on 24" x 15" wood plaque. Bottom portion of metal stamped "J.G. Parke, Maj. Gen.". John Grubb Parke from Chester County, Pennsylvania was a United States Army engineer and a Union general in the American Civil War. 2.) Profile bust portrait in brass/bronze of George Gordon Meade (1815-1872). Portrait measures 14.5" x 9" and is mounted on wood plaque measuring 21.5" x 15.75" (plaque lacks top wood decorative piece). Bottom portion of metal presents signature "E.A. Kretschman Sculpt." and "Miller & Co. Phila". George Gordon Meade was a Union General during the American Civil War and commanded the Union Army at Gettysburg. The artist of the plaque is Edward A. Kretschman (1849-1923) was a sculptor famed for historical and Civil War related portraiture.
