Chinese 19th Cent. Soapstone Foo Lion Seal 4.5''x2.75''. A carved grey soapstone foo lion with pup seal oval seal. Large artist chop mark on bottom showing use. Chip to one ear at top with some scattered surface wear. Remnant of red wax export seal on verso. Qing dynasty. Collection of Dan Henderson (1921-2001), Seattle. Henderson started the Asian Law Program at the University of Washington and much of his personal Asian arts collection resides in the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
