Outdoor CDV of 1st Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division
CDV of a log cabin, with five officers and a woman standing in front. Sign above door reads "1st Brigade, 2nd Cav. Div." Numerous tents visible behind the cabin. Information on this Division is a bit sparse, and what is easily accessed tends to focus on the Battle of Gettysburg, in which General John Buford, in command of the 1st Division reserves, picked the battlefield upon which to meet the Army of Northern Virginia, and set up the defensive positions on the heights. He also was one of the few to pursue Lee's forces after the battle. He would receive a brevet major generalcy for his service at Gettysburg while on his deathbed in Washington, DC.
Condition Report: Light toning and handling wear. A bit of a printed piece still affixed to verso.
