Carcharocles megalodon
Miocene
South Carolina
Measuring six inches in height, this Carcharocles megalodon tooth is a covetable specimen. Most teeth found from this species are a mere 3-4 inches. Estimating the length of a shark at about ten feet in length to every one inch of tooth, the formidable behemoth to which this tooth belonged would have measured over sixty feet long. Displaying attractive greenish brown enamel and an intact black root, the present specimen was found in the muddy river waters of South Carolina by intrepid divers who locate the teeth by feel, as there is no visibility at the river bottom. Offered with a custom display stand. Height 6in
