Two Panels Depicting Standing Saints with Putti Above, Possibly Wings of an Altarpiece
Each initialed "DP" l.r. or l.l.
Each oil on canvas mounted to panel, 58 x 21 in. (147.3 x 53.3 cm), framed.
Condition: Scattered paint losses, craquelure, varnish discoloration, surface grime.
N.B. These two works have been in the consignor's family for over 50 years, and were likely purchased by the consignor's father, who was an art collector in Manhattan, active in the 1940-1960s. They were tentatively attributed to Domenico Passignano, known as Domenico Cresti, il Passignano (Italian, 1559-1638), based upon a monogram "DP" that appears in the lower corner of each panel.
