An album of forty eight photographs of views in Aceh, Ambon island, Surabaya, Jakarta, Singapore and Penang, 1890s

Oblong folio (298 x 370mm.), 48 albumen prints (19 large format 200 x 265mm.; and 29 smaller, average 105 x 150mm.), one with the blindstamp of Lambert & Co., most with contemporary ink captions in Dutch, original blindstamped red cloth, 'Album' stamped in gilt on upper cover, floral endpapers, some stains and fading, a little wear or creasing to some prints, binding waterstained and rather worn

RARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE EAST INDIES. This album documents a voyage on the Dutch ship Flores, and includes a few photographs of the ship and scenes on board. The other photographs show the ships Johan Willem Friso and Galen, together with 13 views of Ambon Island (Moluccas), a view of the Marine Society building ("Hodderlust") in Surabaya (Java), Javanese dancers, Aceh (11), Batavia (3), Penang (10), and Singapore (2).
