LATE 18TH C. ENGLISH MINIATURE PORTRAIT
Oval Bust Wedding Portrait of a Beautiful Young Woman, oil, unsigned, inscribed in pencil on the original backing "Miss Grosvenor, 1795", possibly the daughter of Richard, 1st Earl Grosvenor (1731-1802), he had three daughters and one son, she bears a certain resemblance to the Joshua Reynolds portrait of the Earl. She is depicted in white gown and mantle, pearl brooch, choker and strands in her red hair on green ribbon, her piercing green eyes looking intently at the viewer. Housed in a gilt and blue enamel frame with riband hanger, domed glass, velvet backing. 3" x 2 1/4", excluding the hanger.
