(A) US 1870 TRIAL SPRINGFIELD-REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK
Made at Springfield in 1870 only, quantity approximately 1,000. Major differences between the standard 1871 Model include no date on left side of frame, dated 1870 on right side of frame, short hammer spur, and no locking action. Features Model 1868 type rear sight, barrel and fittings in the white, case color frame, and two piece walnut stock. Tang is stamped with Remington patents. Left side of stock has a strong "ESA" cartouche for Erskin Allin. CONDITION: The color on frame has simply faded to a light grey patina with some age toning. The bright finished parts have some age spotting as well and have never been polished. Stocks are excellent with usual bumps and bruises. Bright and shiny near mint bore.
