Vincenzo Ciardo was a Neapolitan artist known for his coastal landscapes inspired by the French Impressionists. Before moving to Naples, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. Ciardo lived in the Latin Quarter of Naples, involving himself in the bohemian community of artists that resided there. Originally associated with the more realistic Posillipo School of landscape painters, Ciardo allowed his style to become looser and more impressionistic as he progressed as an artist.
