Roman 23K+ Gold Hair Pin w/ Glass Bead

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely hair pin comprised of high karat gold (98% or equivalent to 23K+ gold) and a translucent glass bead. The elegant design presents caplike gold forms on top and below the glass bead with six threadlike wires equidistantly placed so as to join them. A tiny loop adorns the upper cap, and a long gold pin extends from the lower cap. The glass bead was most likely colorless but has developed a gorgeous iridescence of champagne pink and golden hues. Size: 2.5" L x .375" in diameter (the glass bead, 6.4 cm x 1 cm). Total Weight: 2.8 grams.

Condition Report: Minor indentations to the gold sheet caps and expected bending to the pin, but otherwise the pin is in excellent condition. The glass bead appears to be intact and has developed a gorgeous golden and champagne pink iridescence.
