EARLY STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE JUG
Circa 1790 English Pearlware Jug, molded and multicolor figural decoration with impressed labels: 'Sportive/Innocence' and 'Mischievious/Sport' in two heart shaped panels, leaf form trim, 8 1/8" high, 8 1/4" x 5". Hairline crack and rim chip extending from spout, additional chip and two glaze flakes to top rim, firing crack to top of handle.
Provenance: According to a letter accompanying this jug, it descended in the Durkee family of Eastern Massachusetts.
