TREMENDOUS BEAUTIFUL CONDITION WATERVLIET ARSENAL 1898

Absolutely beautiful condition Model 1898 Watervliet arsenal cannon (tube numbered 119) on original Rock Island Armory carriage with data plate (number 256) with operating elevation gear, bore swabs, and original metal and wood furnishings. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent painted green finish with some wear to bare metal at the high edges, particularly at the muzzle. Breech also extremely fine with attractive brass hardware handle. Steel rims of wooden wheels extremely fine turning to a brown patina where at contact surfaces with original green paint at sides and on wood. Wood of carriage is exceptional, near excellent beautiful paint. Bore is exceptionally clean with strong rifling. Cannon is ready for firing and would be difficult to upgrade the condition of this specimen for competition or display.
