A Pair of Queen Anne Silver Candlesticks, by William Denny, London, 1702, each on stepped square base with canted corners, with baluster stem and spool-shaped socket, engraved with a crest, further prick-engraved underneath with initials 'A' over 'TI', 17cm high, 21oz 16dwt (2)

Provenance:
Bonhams, 25 February 2015, lot 177, where acquired by the present owner.

. One candlestick marked with maker's mark and date letter underneath, the other fully marked underneath. Each further marked on socket with lion's head erased. The marks underneath are clear. The marks on the sockets show wear. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The engraved crests are perhaps later. There is some bruising to the stem of one stick at the base. There has possibly been a repair in this area. There are some small bruises to the top of the sockets.
