Russian Triptych Icon Theotokos, Painted Wood
Russian triptych icon in carved and painted wood, with door-like outer wings on hinges. Central panel depicts the Madonna Theotokos, with the Christ Child seated in her lap, pointing upward with her right hand, while the outer wings show two saints each: St. Nicholas and St. George on the left inside wing and St. Caralampo and St. Demetrius of Thessalonica on the right.
Dimensions are: 6 3/4 inches tall X 8 3/4 inches wide when open, 4 3/4 inches wide when closed. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Wood is chipped and has worm holes throughout; lower corner of the left door is broken off and worn down; other chips and wear to paint throughout. Red (customs) seal on verso. Wax residue on left side of exterior.
