Roman deep red carnelian intaglio. Bust of Omphale, with lion skin; in profile, facing left. Characterized by deeply carved volumes, but longilineal at the same time. The subject has been appreciated since ancient times. The stone is chipped on the edge, on the opposite side of the character's profile.
