7.25" x 4". Certificate issued by Texas Army Paymaster General to Samuel McLellin (also spelled McClelland) for six month's pay, totaling $124.00. Samuel McClelland was present at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836 and was a Private in Company C, First Texas Volunteers. McClelland joined the Somervell Expedition in 1842, as well as the subsequent Mier expedition. Captured at the Battle of Ciudad Mier in December 1842, he was marched into the Mexican interior with the rest of the prisoners, and died of pleurisy in March 1843. **Very good condition overall.
