Veduta by a follower of Francesco Guardi, the last and unsurpassed representative of Venetian painting of the 18th century, who worked mainly on Veduta paintings. From the 1850s, he found his own inimitable style of expressive painting, which surpassed other vedutists in its originality, and after the disappearance of Canaletto (r. 1768), he became the most sought-after by contemporary collectors and connoisseurs throughout Europe. In the presented landscape, a light and striking brushstroke is evident, just like Guardi.
