D'après Simon Louis Boizot (1743-1809) - Sevres - Bust of Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France (1755-1793) - Biscuit
Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France (1755-1793) .
It is very rare to find BISCUITS representing Queen Marie-Antoinette in real Sèvres biscuit.
Most are copies made in Paris or Limoges porcelain.
(Ref. Sèvres City of Ceramics)
Important Sevres biscuit bust, resting on a square base, representing the young sovereign wearing a tiara and draped in fabric, around the age of 30.
Signed ER and dated S 1909, SEVRES
Very high quality and the sculptor was able to render the liveliness and beauty of the girl's face.
The rendering of this bust is lovely, charming, a great expressiveness emerges from the work.
Condition: Excellent condition, a small dent on the base (see photo) .
This bust is produced by the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1785, it allows the sculptor Louis-Simon Boizot to show his qualities as a portrait painter.
It brilliantly reproduces the royal look thanks to a very sophisticated composition, where the scale of the drapery brought behind the pedestal highlights the model. Boizot deliberately opted for simplicity: no jewelry, lace or fur. The artist only plays here with flesh, hair and drapery.
Height: 34cm
