A pair of George I walnut side chairs, A pair of George I walnut side chairs, c.1720, possibly Irish, each with gros and petit point upholstery depicting exotic birds and plants, raised on anthemion-carved cabriole supports, terminating in pad feet, 76cm wide 60cm deep 96cm high (2) Provenance: Christie’s, South Kensington, ‘Anouska Hempel, Kay Saatchi, Ivor Braka, Three Tastemakers’, 17 January 2012, lot 261. Condition Report: Some scuffs, knocks and abrasions throughout, particularly to the legs. Upholstery to one with tear of approximately 16cm. Needlework with dirt and fading. Supports with signs of alterations. Cracks and splits to both frames. Some wobble to frames. In nicely aged aesthetic condition but would require some attention to be fit for use.
