N.P. AMES MODEL 1832 FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD 1844
Nice original Model 1832 N.P. Ames Foot Artillery Sword and scabbard. Sword is marked at ricasso with Eagle and N.P. Ames Springfield on one side and United States 1844 JH on the other. J.H.. stands for Joseph Hannis who was a U.S. Armory Inspector.. 19" blade is fullered on both sides with a bright finish. Hilt is cast brass with fish scale grip and Federal Eagle on either side of the pommel. It is affixed blade with three rivets, and is peened at the pommel. The leather scabbard is sound and has a brass throat with frog stud and brass chape. A very nice example of this sword. Very Good
