[Medieval manuscripts]. Viel-Castel, H. de. Statuts de l'Ordre du Saint-Esprit au Droit Desir ou du Nœud institué à Naples en 1352 par Louis d'Anjou, premier du nom, Roi de Jérusalem, de Naples et de Sicile. - First blank sl. foxed; outer blank margins occas. trifle foxed; old libr. stamp on htitle and title-p. Binding sl. rubbed along extremities (i.a. affecting Gruel's signature at foot of spine), otherwise in fine condition.

= Beautiful facsimile, showing chromolithography in all its splendour. Bigmore and Wyman, p.200: "Jean Engelmann (...) greatly aided in developing the chromolithographic process, was sent to Paris in 1837 to found an establishment to be specially devoted to chromolithography, which he carried out to great perfection. (...) In 1842 he took into partnership M. Aug. Graf. His was the first, and for a considerable time the only chromolithographic establishment in Paris''.
