the kidney-shaped top with a three-quarter pierced brass gallery and inset with a later cream-coloured gilt-tooled writing surface, the front of the desk with one short and two long frieze drawers above a kneehole enclosed by two pedestals with panel doors containing four drawers, the reverse of the desk with two open shelves, on concealed castors, with ebonised stringing and boxwood chequer-banding throughout, the locks stamped J BRAMAH / 124 PICCADILLY

Condition Report:
The surface with some variations to colour, with the varnish worn at placed, and also with evidence of old worm holes having been filled in. The walnut veneers and chequer-banding with replacements throughout; one section of ebonised moulding to the bottom-right door is detached but present. Two keys, which fit the panel doors of the pedestals. The leather writing surface with scratches, watermarks and stains due to use.
