George VI gold Specimen "Royal Society" Prize Medal 1937-Dated (1951) SP62 PCGS, BHM-4376. 73mm. 297.22gm. 9 carat gold noted on the PCGS certification label. By T.H. Paget and William Wyon. Presented to Sir Ian Heilbron, noted Scottish chemist who pioneered organic chemistry for therapeutic and industrial use. Featuring the instantly recognizable portrait of George VI and a depiction of Isaac Newton to the reverse, this immense Medal readily impresses when viewed in hand. Sir Ian Morris Heilbron (1886–1959) was a distinguished British chemist known for his pioneering work in organic chemistry. Heilbron's research played a crucial role in the synthesis of Vitamin A, which was a major breakthrough in the understanding of vitamins and their role in human health.
