A South German processional pole with Saint Catharine, circa 1680
Polychrome and gilt lime wood. Turned columns resting on flamed pedestals, holding a magnificent canopy. From its centre rises a baluster-form candlestick between four curved supports. Iron drip pan with short pricket. The construction features a finely carved figure of Saint Catherine with sword and wheel. The underside decorated with four cherubim, on original turned carrying poles. Partially restored. Overall height 2.7 m.
