'J.D': A TERRACOTTA SCULPTURE OF A YOUNG GIRL, PROBABLY AN ALLEGORY OF SCULPTURE LATE 19TH CENTURY Young girl, sculpting knife in hand, on a fluted column with an ionic capital, signed to cast JD 120cm high, base approx. 39cm wide It has been suggested that the incised initials are those of the sculptor Juliette Delorme who exhibited at the Paris Salon 1880-1890, wife and student of sculptor Victorien Antoine Bastet (1852-1905). Condition Report: The figure: Colour seems to change depending on the light falling on it. Losses to wreath to hair, skin to upper upper left forearm, mount to side badge and between her feet. Base edge chips and loses Weathering and colour variance from exposure Please see additional images for visual references to condition which form part of this condition report.
