A LACQUERED GOATSKIN SIDE OR MUSIC CABINET BY ALDO TURA, CIRCA 1955 With concertina doors to the front and the back, the doors decorated with string instruments, the sides decorated with books, the front doors opening to a satinwood lined interior and an original music system, with hidden speakers within the base 101cm high, 200.5cm wide, 50cm deep Aldo Tura started designing and manufacturing his furniture in the 1930s. Following the Art Deco movement which focused on straight lines and angles, Tura designed pieces with more flowing lines and much freer shapes. He created work of the highest craftsmanship produced in limited numbers, favouring traditional techniques. Due to his outstanding skill as a craftsman and artist, he experimented with a wide range of unusual materials including egg shell, parchment, leather and wood veneering. Condition Report: Cabinet with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use.The surface of the cabinet with the expected craquelure, chips and marks. No key present, but all locks are open. Please note, the sound system will need to be tested by a qualified electrician before use and we cannot guarantee is usability. The shelves to the interior are lacking. The adjustable rests are present. Some chips of loss to the ebonised veneer of the base. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
