French Three Piece Highly Figured Rouge Marble and Bronze Clock Set, Samuel Marti, Paris, c. 1900, the clock with a gilt lion surmount atop a serpentine stepped marble top over a beveled glass front and sides, enclosing the time and strike clock with an enamel chapter ring, flanked by corners with reeded marble columns, on a serpentine stepped marble base on large bronze ball feet, together with a pair of matching marble urn garnitures on stepped marble bases, on flat bronze disc feet, with pendulum, and keys, H.- 21 in., W.- 14 in., D.- 7 in., Urns- H.- 16 3/4 in., W.- 5 1/4 in., D.- 4 1/2 in. (3 Pcs.)
Condition Report: There are a few small losses to the base edges on the urn garnitures, and to the edges of the columns along the bronze mounts. The screws on one of the urn handles and one of the columns are loose. The lion atop the clock exhibits well-integrated "touch-up" gilding. Bronze elements exhibit light oxidation and accretions. The pendulum has mercury and moves freely. Clock winds, and mechanism are all present, but working order is unknown. The brass knob on the back door of the glass case is detached. Inside the back of the case behind the pendulum is a small spherical brass plaque with the inscription "Medaille d' Or (Gold Medal)/Paris, 1900/ Samuel Marti." Marti was one of the most prestigious Parisian clock makers during the second half of the 19th century. Please see additional photographs.
