After Claudius de Chesne (France/London, 1693-1730), French Patinated Spelter Figural Mantle Clock, 20th c., the blue polychromed globe with time and strike clock held by two female allegories representing "jour et nuit", mounted on a mottled amber marble base with scrolled feet and brass artist plaque, Overall- H.- 29 in., W.- 15 1/4 in., D.- 9 1/4 in. Provenance: The Estate of Jay Calamia, property from the Dufour-Plassan House, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition Report: The clock winds, ticks and is currently keeping time. A few of the star mounts are slightly loose. The inside rim on the back cover/opening of the globe is slightly bent and has been resoldered, so the cover is a little loose. On the figural group two of the arms were cast with the figures; two of the arms were cast separately, so as to accommodate the attachment of the globe. The right fixed arm on the right figure has been repaired, and there is light separation on the other two arms at the joints. Other bronze elements and mounts are intact with no repairs. There are a few scattered flakes to the patination. The back panel on the marble base is a replacement that is slightly darker in color. Handsome example. In overall good condition.
