Central European school of the late 19th-early 20th century
Central European school of the late nineteenth century-early twentieth century.
"Still life".
Oil on canvas.
Signed "E. Küller" in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 80 x 120 cm; 98 x 139 cm (frame).
In this painting the author approaches a traditional theme in the European painting, the still life of hunting, and he does it with a composition also traditional, on a disordered table. However, the formal treatment is now completely modern, with a looser brushstroke and a greater attention to colors, lights and shadows than to the detailed description of qualities and textures. However, there is still the atmospheric care of the scene, and the conception of it as something close and almost tangible, through the placement of objects in the foreground, in an almost illusionistic way.
