Native American, Southwestern United States, Acoma Pueblo, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A pair of hand-built pottery owls, each with a hollow body and tab-shaped wings. The beige-hued surfaces are decorated with black pigment to form the feathers as well as red-orange pigment to create the eyes and beak. Size of largest: 3.625" L x 3.625" W x 4.5" H (9.2 cm x 9.2 cm x 11.4 cm)
