A Chinese spinach-green jade inkstone
Qing dynasty, 18th century
Carved in the form of a roof tile with a quatrefoil well at the top on a gently curved surface, and a flattened centre for grinding the brick, all framed by an incised border, the stone of spinach hue with cloudy-white and russet inclusions, 20.5cm x 11cm.
