Two (2) curious oil paintings on panel from the 19th century depicting a “Dance macabre” with landscape. The main theme of these painting is Death, depicted as a skeleton that takes away a man (the Miser) , and a woman (vanity) . These paintings were probably ceiling plates, set into a coffered ceiling. Style and topic recall Vincenzo Bonomini from Bergamo, a 18th century painter of macabre subjects. The paintings are part of a series of 27x21 plates owned by the seller, and collected over 50 years.
