A Chinese archaic bronze vessel, hu, Han dynasty, the compressed body raised on a splayed foot rising up to a trumpet neck, decorated to the shoulders with a ribbed design, the neck flanked by a pair of loop handles with chain attached, the top of the handle cast with archaistic designs, 29cm high.

Provenance: Acquired in Bangkok 1958/59 by the Grandfather of the present owner.

Condition Report:

Expected deterioration to metal and encrustations to surface throughout. Nibbling to edges of mouth, handle and foot.

One of the loop handles stuck upwards and a few of the chain links with slightly open gaps.

Approx 20mm wide loss to foot, and some cracking and loss to the lower body. Fine cracking to shoulder.

Some core and other residue to interior.
