A FINE SILVER-INLAID PIHA KAETTA DAGGER
Sri Lanka, 18th - 19th century
With a broad single-edged steel blade with silver-inlaid fuller along the back edge, the ricasso decorated with silver-inlaid rosettes and scrolling vegetal tendrils on both sides, the brass forte worked in the shape of vegetal tendrils and lush sprouts, the carved hilt with brass and silver mounts and a brass pommel-cap, the wooden scabbard with a brass sheets finely worked around the top, 33.4cm long including the scabbard.
