A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS, CIRCA 1775, ATTRIBUTED TO HENRY HILL OF MARLBOROUGH

Condition Report:
In overall reasonable restored condition but would benefit from further attention. Upholstery is worn with nuemrous tears and will need to be replaced. The top rail of the backrest of each chair with evidence of restoration including plug repairs. A significant loss to veneer of one backrest. Some replacements to swag marquetry inlay. Frames sound and sturdy and each chair has been strenghtened with baton supports to each corner. Evidence of old worm to seat rails which no longer appears to be active. Rear corner of one seat rail with later carved section. Minor old marks and scratches notably to legs and feet consistent with age and use.
