A SCROLL PAINTING OF A LANDSCAPE, AFTER ZHANG DAQIAN
China, 20th century. After Zhang Daqian (1899-1983). Painted with ink and watercolors on paper, with a silk brocade frame, and mounted as a hanging scroll with wood handles, depicting the Jiuyi Mountains and the Xiao River, with calligraphy to the upper area reading: 'Xiaoxiang Shuiyun in the summer of Bingxu year 1946. The scenery of the Jiuyi Mountains and the Xiao River (Xiao Shui) 6 in the south of Hunan, that of the Canglang River and Dongting Lake in the north, as well as that of the Xiang River which connects them, are all mentioned often in Chinese poetry. Inscribed Zhang Yuan' and with four seals: 'Zhang Yuan', 'Daqian Jushi', 'Zhang Yuan' and 'Daqian'.

Condition: Excellent condition with hardly any wear and short minimal creases, very vivid colors.
Provenance: Hungarian private collection, according to the current owner acquired in 1990.
