American, 19th century. An American Civil War era Philip S. Justice retailed model 1840 calvary officer's sword with a curved steel blade, two branched brass guard with leather grips and rests in a period steel scabbard. Marked "P.S. Justice,Philadelphia" to the ricasso. Approx: h. 43", w. 4.5".
Condition Report: Steel blade shows wear commensurate with age and use, wiring to grip is mostly missing; significant gilt loss to hilt.
