Antique Russian icon “St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker” from the 19th century. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on a wooden panel with chalk background. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th century in the Tsarist period of Russia. The painting is quite detailed and masterfully painted. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. Next to Nicholas is Christ and the Mother of God. The icon and the saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible. Relatively widespread motif. The icon is in good condition with signs of wear commensurate with age (see photos) . The painting has very fine craquelure. Partial restorations are present. Two transverse wooden laths are installed on the back. Stable and heavy wooden panel. All details are well-visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
