Jade Carved Chain Vase, Early 20th Century
A Chinese jade carved hanging vase dating from the early 20th century. The jade is carved in 3 parts: the vessel, the handles attached to the vessel with loose bands, and the lid. The handles are attached to two chains with two plaques at the top, and the vessel has four smaller handles in the form of bird heads with small decorative elements suspended from them. The lid is carved with a phoenix holding a lingzhi in its mouth. The plaques are carved in the form of a bat and two stylized chilong respectively, and the sides of the vessel are carved with taotie masks.
Dimensions are: 14 1/2 inches tall X 6 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
