Jimi Hendrix Experience and Led Zeppelin: 1969 Northern

[ translate ]

Stunning original first printing color 14 x 20.5 poster designed by Linda Segul for the 2nd Annual Northern California Folk-Rock Festival held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, California, on May 23-25, 1969, which featured performances by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, The Chambers Brothers, Eric Burdon, Spirit, Canned Heat, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Youngbloods, Steve Miller, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, and more. This poster is in beautiful condition.

Radio station KSJO reported that acts on the bill—Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, in particular—were not going to appear and were booked elsewhere. Some in the know said it was Peter Grant, Led Zeppelinâ€â„¢s manager, who was behind the rumor, attempting to squeeze some more money from Bob Blodgett, the festival's promoter, for Led Zeppelinâ€â„¢s performance. Grantâ€â„¢s plan backfired, with the promoter retaliating and paying the Jimi Hendrix Experience $30,000—an unheard of about of money at the time, and whose performance at the festival was spectacular.
